The Kovilj monks make the brandy according to traditional French receipe for Calvados: the fruit is harvested (either by hand or mechanically) and pressed into a juice that is fermented into a dry cider. It is then distilled into eau de vie. It ages in oak casks in a Monastery cellar for at least 3 years.

Strongly recommended

Excellent! Your senses are enriched by the pleasant aroma of apple and cider, various fragrances of excellent oak cask and nice tawny colour. The monks have shown the world how extrordinary brandy is made!

About the brand

Kovilj Monastery is situated in northern Serbian province Vojvodina, nearby Novi Sad. It was founded by Saint Sava in the early 13th century. Saint Sava was a prince and the first archbishop of Serbian Orthodox Church. The Monastery was built on the spot where Saint Sava healed the son of the Hungarian King Andrew II. Monastery has a large brotherhood, school of iconography and produces reputable cheese, wine and brandy.

Apple Brandy

When it comes to fruit-based liqueurs, the smooth, tasty richness of well-made apple brandy is second to none. The two-step brewing process of this brandy is both ingenious and quite simple. First, the high-quality apple is turned into a hard cider (fermented apple juice). Next, the cider itself gets distilled in order to get this brandy.  Once the ageing process is added into the mix, the end result becomes even more impressive. This is due to the fact that only high-quality wood is used for barreling (most commonly charred oak), which contributes to the final flavour profile of the brandy. The care, effort, and patience that go into this process are exactly what makes old apple brandy into one of the most delicate liquors in existence.  Order a bottle of exquisite apple brandy today and enjoy the richness of a genuine, alcohol-based fruity delight.
