Tradition of brandy production in Serbia is over 500 years old and it is well known that juniper berries were one of favorite herbs in folk medicine for thousands of years. There are records in the Hilandar medical codex from the 13th century about this curative plant and it is certain that juniper berries have been added into the brandy for hundreds of years, exactly as it is done with many other medical herbs and plants.
